Microblading is a type of cosmetic tattooing (also known as micropigmentation and permanent cosmetics). The effects available can range from a natural hair stroke enhancement that will subtly enhance the facial features to the imitation of brow make-up.
Microblading is ideal for people who have over-plucked, pale, patchy or thin eyebrows that need to be filled in or defined. It is ideal for people who don’t have time to draw their brows every day.
The treatment is usually carried out over two appointments. An initial consultation is carried out to discuss your requirements and help you decide on the result that will best suit you. Everything from your skin tone, facial features, lifestyle, image and hair will be taken into account. I will then custom blend pigments to perfectly match your needs. The treatment itself involves gently implanting microscopic particles of pigment into the skin. A retouch appointment is carried out 4-6 weeks later.
Yes, the healed result will look very natural. Take a look through my portfolio photos and you will see that the results can be tailored to whatever look, depth and tone of colour suits you best.
Numbing creams are used prior to and during the treatment. Some clients say there is mild discomfort, but most feel no pain at all.
This varies from person to person because skin type, lifestyle, genetics, aftercare and environmental factors can all contribute to how long the pigments will be retained. For example, sun bed use and sun exposure have a bearing on the pigment retention, but this can be reduced with proper protection. Regular colour boost treatments are recommended for maintenance every 12 - 18 months, although some clients prefer more frequent appointments and some can go longer. Once the colour starts to change you will know that you are ready for your colour boost. I offer discounted colour boost rates from 6 – 24 months after the retouch appointment. It is important to remember that permanent make-up is a low maintenance not a no maintenance treatment.
A full assessment of your medical background will be made prior to the treatment. While there are some occasions when people aren’t suitable for permanent cosmetics due to medical matters, but this is fairly uncommon.
I adhere to the highest standards of health and safety. You can be assured that all risks are minimised and that you are in safe hands. However, because the treatment involves implanting pigment into the skin, that means it is invasive. While this is what provides permanent cosmetics with its long-lasting benefits, there are also some risks. As with any form of tattooing, these can include allergic reaction, undesired result or colour, misplaced colour, infection or scarring.
Do not drink alcohol or caffeine, including tablets and energy drinks for a minimum of 24 hours before your treatment. Both can cause excessive bleeding and can dilute the pigment. Caffeine can also affect the numbing cream and increase sensitivity.
Yes, it can be useful to see what colour tones you have been using for your brows.
I specialise in ultra-realistic permanent cosmetics. For brows, this means I can imitate natural brow hairs, whether you have many, few or none. Alternatively, if you do want a combination or powder brow style, that can also be achieved with shading. I will work with you to achieve the perfect style of brow for you.
Any waxing should be performed at least 48 hours before the treatment and tinting should be carried out two weeks before the treatment.
No. I prefer you to keep your own brows – don’t even tweeze them before you come in as I like to work within your natural shape if possible.
You should be prepared for the colour intensity to be significantly sharper and darker immediately after the treatment. This will subside and become lighter as the skin heals. This process can take up to 10 days.
